The DMA is a proposal that is currently under review by the European Union (EU). The DMA seeks to level the European digital markets playing field between tech giants that are deemed as “gatekeepers” such as Google, Apple, Facebook, etc. and smaller tech start-ups who are fighting for a slice of this lucrative pie (albeit unsuccessfully, hence the supposed “need” for the DMA). The DMA aims to achieve this by prohibiting certain practices that are perceived as being contributing factors to gatekeeping, and prescribing vague (but far-reaching) investigatory and enforcement mechanisms to detect and punish non-compliance.

Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) are all the rage these days, but what are they? NFTs represent digital ownership of an object that can not be replicated. This object could represent a digital work of art or even a ticket to a concert. The NFT space has been growing rapidly but for the most part they are all the same. Public blockchains have public NFTs. This means a user can track who has owned the NFT, how much it has traded for and everyone can look at the metadata that the NFT contains.

“The first time I started to think about ALTER was back in 2020 when I wanted to find an alternative for Google Suite that had a global outage for 7hours in late 2020. At that time it seemed the majority of companies Working on G-Suite were stuck — the work stopped and it was not clear what was happening with our data. Was there an intentional hack, or data being transferred and there was a connection problem? Or maybe a new smart AI was deployed to analyze our data better.

From now on we have: One of the most unique features of Alter – the hash confirmation indicator – has an updated visual identity. This indicator is showing three possible message contents confirmation statuses within the blockchain environment: scheduled to be persisted into the blockchain, accepted (but not yet persisted), and finally persisted. If the message has been persisted, it means it can be verified and its contents are safely stored on a server (and in the blockchain smart contract) available to anyone to check. Usually, message hash confirmation and in-chain storage occurs in 10 minutes or less. However, if the indicator does not change for over 24h, we suggest resending the mail, allowing the system to reset its setting and divert it to a different server. These statuses do not indicate whether the receiver has received or read a message sent to them. Message hash is calculated on your device side, whether it is a browser or mobile phone, and hash confirmation proofs that the message was not tampered with and its contents are still intact.
